ACQUISITION

  • The Miller Art Museum has recently collected four works from my Wild Miscellany series. The photographs are portraits of taxidermied animals harvested in Door County. Wild Miscellany, 2009, is a project that was made to honor the Menominee Tribe while I was the artist-in-residence at the Paine Art Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Thank you, Helen del Guidice, head curator of MAM, for your passion and vision to include these works in the the museum's permanent collection. The gaurdian portraits are currently featured in the Wildlife Biennial XXI and will be on display November 4 – Decemeber 30, 2023 on the Ruth Morton Miller Mezzanine, second floor.

OPENING RECEPTION

  • Please join me in the main galleries at the Miller Art Museum to celebration the opening of my Anthropocene Project, BLIND SPOT to pass among them, on July 21, 2023 from 5:30 to 7pm. The exhibition is orginized by and on loan from the Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend, and presented by Miller Art Museum through September 9, 2023. Works in oil by my fellow Door County based artist, Brigitte Kozma, will debut on the mezzanine.

TROUT MUSEUM OF ART

  • TMA Contemporary is the Trout Museum of Art's annual Juried exhibition. This year showcasing 118 of Wisconsin's top visual artists. Works that exemplify the cutting-edge art being created by artists across the state, emerging and established. I have the privilege of exhibiting an image from my Blind Spot series which is generously on loan from the Museum of Wisconsin Art's permanent collection. TMA Contemporary is on exhibit through August 14, 2022.

  • The Zolla/Lieberman Gallery will be exhibiting a self-portrait from my Moments of Being series. I'll be in good company with many of the gallery's finest artists including Deborah Butterfield, Riva Leher, Susanne Doremus, and more. The show runs November 30 - December 4, 2022. AI-AP AWARD

  • I'm pleased to announce that American Photography 38, an international juried competition, has selected the self portrait titled Roses from my Moments of Being series. As a finalist I have the distinction, from over 7,000 images submitted, of being one of only 348 images to be selected by a renowned panel of jurists. The works will be available permanently online in The ARCHIVE – AI-AP's exclusive online resource. Thank you AI-AP for this honor and privilege! Please find my image with the other selected works in the ARCHIVE collection on the AI-AP website.

ZOLLA LIEBERMAN | SOLO SHOW

  • Zolla/Lieberman Gallery, Chicago, debuts my series, Moments of Being, in the office gallery May 20 - July 30, 2022. Moments of Being is a self-portrait series on the art of loss. In dialog with Elizabeth Bishop's poem, One Art, this series examines beauty in life through a soft lens of memory. Found in everyday moments, these images contemplate underlying themes of love, longing, grief, and the desire to be truly seen.

TROUT MUSEUM OF ART

  • The Trout Museum of Art, Appleton, Wisconsin, is honoring the late Oscar C. Boldt with GROUNDBREAKING, a tribute to his 66 year career as a builder. The show runs February 17 – May 15, 2022. The exhibit will feature fourteen local photographers paired with Boldt Company artifacts. The opening reception is Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5 to 8pm.

ACQUISITION

  • I'm privilege to announce that the Museum of Wisconsin Art has recently collected thirty-three images from my ongoing series Blind Spot. The acquisition is the entire collection of photographs that were on display in my solo exhibition at MOWA | DTN December 2021 through February 2022. Blind Spot, an Antrhopocence project, is now available for loan through the museum. MoWA currently has four works on display in their main gallery and the entire collection will begin to travel the summer of 2023 - first stop: The Miller Art Museum, Sturgeon Bay.

GALLERY TALK

  • I'll be teaming up with the venerable Pam Ferderbar – author, photographer and president of the Coalition of Photographic Arts – to discuss my work on exhibit at MoWA | DTN. The informal (and unscripted) event will touch upon my process in making the series Blind Spot, the project's concept and more. Please arrive early to grab a cocktail and linger afterward to introduce yourself and chat. The event is at Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel on February 18, 2022. The evening is 'pandemic-sensitive' with a limit to 20 persons per talk.   6-7pm Registration     7-8pm Registration

WORKSHOP

  • Hey MKE! I'm offering an iPhone workshop titled small camera BIG PRINT. In just a couple of hours, I'll share how to get the most from the little devices we all have in our pockets. My 'Portable Mindset' of iPhoneography will reveal how to develop a concrete 'Photographic Practice' from capture to print through an innovative workflow with a fine art approach. Everyone will walk out the door with a BIG 13" x 19" PRINT of your very own photo. The event is Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

SILENT AUCTION

  • The Hardy Gallery in Ephraim, Wisconsin is hosting their annual Collection Invitational exhibition July 17 – August 29, 2021. On display are dozens of recognized regional artists' work paired with a donation piece on silent auction. My donation is a miniature print of an oak tree titled  44°35'03.0"N 87°52'02.9"W  from my Blind Spot series. It is luxely matted and framed - a real gem of a piece. All bidding is in-person, so load the car and head up to Door County ASAP. Safe travels and happy bidding!

  • Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) currently has a photography exhibition, Between, on display in the Henry Street Gallery through February 13, 2022. My piece, Untitled (Motel, Bloomer, Wisconsin), from the museum's permanent collection is included in this beautifully nuanced group show.       Between       Press Release

ACQUISITION

  • The Miller Art Museum – Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin – has recently collected eight portraits I made of my daughter, Delilah, that were entries in the Door Prize for Portraiture Invitational from 2011 through 2018. The portraits stand witness of her growing up - starting at the age of nine through sixteen years old. Thank you, Helen del Guidice, head curator of MAM, for your passion and vision in including these works in the the museum's permanent collection. The portraits will be on display July 24 – September 20, 2021 on the Ruth Morton Miller Mezzanine, second floor.

ON VIEW @ MoWA

  • Museum of Wisconsin Art has reopened their doors to fresh walls of art! Two pieces from my Blind Spot series are included in the newly curated main gallery. The work will be on view through June 2021.

ACQUISITION

  • The Corcoran Gallery of Art, upon closing and dismantling their holdings, donated the majority of their collection to the American University's Katzen Arts Center, Washington, D.C. Four of my works in total, two from each series – American Journal and In Walking Distance – have made way to this new home.  Philip Brookman, Senior Curator of Photography and Media Arts director at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, had originally selected these works from the exhibition in 2002 featuring the artists from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts (NFAA) Residency Fellowship.
