Night Vision

"There are truths which one can see only when it's dark."    —Isaac Bashevis Singer
narrative

The semblance of day is forgotten

Deep into the night and onwards to dawn

Stillness rolls in

Absence is embraced

The air becomes rich... velvety

The anonymous becomes seen

Secrets are vaulted in ordinary places

Illumination pools like a skirt with a shadowy hem

Eyes adjust

Blackness floods with color

The owl relays this to another
